The Opening Ceremony of InterWeighing 2011

During April 22~24, 2011, the InterWEIGHING2011 was held successfully at Shanghai Everbright Convention & Exhibition Center. A total of 310 exhibitors, who were from 22 provinces in Mainland China and from the United States, Brazil, Germany, France, Netherlands, Italy, Spain, Britain, Finland, Poland, Ukraine, Japan, South Korea, India, Turkey and China Taiwan and Hong Kong, enthusiastically participated in this exhibition. Lots of exhibitors have much confident with this exhibition, they actively registered to attend the exhibition, the amount of exhibitors increased 6.1% than 2010. The exhibition’s booth area was over 11000 square meters, it increased 30% than 2010, and the custom-built booths were exceeded 3/4 of the total exhibition area. This year's exhibition has become the largest ever in the history of the InterWEIGHING.

According to incomplete statistics, in all of the exhibitors, 52% of them, exhibits are commercial/industrial weighing instruments; 5% of them, exhibits are kitchen scale, bathroom scale, pocket scale ect.; 10% of them, exhibits are balance; 25% of them, exhibits are load cell/weighing indicator; 3% of them, exhibits are weight; 5% of them, exhibits are other.

The opening ceremony of the InterWeighing2011 was held at 9:30am on April 22 in the square in front of the exhibition hall. The opening ceremony was host by Mr. Liu Xiaohua, the secretary-general of CWIA and Mr. Cao Liping, the vice president of CWIA gave an opening speech. Mr. Song Wei, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Metrology, General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of P.R.C. and Mr. Peter Manson, President of the International Legal Metrology Organization, and other VIP guests cut the ribbon for the exhibition opening. Vice presidents of China Weighing Instrument Association also took part in the opening ceremony in the podium.

According to incomplete statistics, the number of professional visitors amount to 12,000 people who came from every province of China and 69 countries worldwide. 74% of the visitors were non-local Shanghai, and 11% of them came from outside Mainland China.

During the exhibition, the organizer held a one and half days weighing technology seminars. Totally 9 enterprises introduced the latest scientific research to the audience. The seminar was not only rich in content but also varied in style. It showed the latest scientific and technological achievements and attracted a large crowd. After every presentation, the audiences raised a series of questions to the speaker, exchange opinions and achieved the desired results. This seminar provides exhibitors with a value added service, as well as a good platform for exchanging of new technologies and new products.

The InterWeighing2011 focused on showing the newest weighing technology and products R&D by exhibitors from around the world, which include all kinds of scales, balance, weighing system, indicator, load cell, testing instrument and device, electronic component and materials used in weighing instrument. These exhibits reflected the latest technological achievements of weighing industry in today's world, meanwhile, showed current development level of weighing industry in today's China. The exhibition also had been concerned of many users of weighing instruments. Many business people from metallurgy, chemicals, machinery, transportation, food, oil and other industrial systems, who used weighing instruments a lot, came to visit the exhibition in succession. Many trade companies and distributors came to the exhibition for trade talks with the exhibitor. In order to accelerate the pace of development, some weighing enterprises sent their staff to the exhibition to get latest information, exchange experiences and explore cooperation. Many exhibitors and customers signed supply contracts or intent contracts on the exhibition. They expressed satisfaction with the exhibition, and commend the exhibition had a real effects in enterprises promotion, technology exchanges and products launch to markets. The exhibitors felt that they were reap a huge harvest from the exhibition, and showed intention to attend next one. They hope the organizer could promote the exhibition into a world-class level international professional exhibition.

In order to expand the impact of InterWEIGHING, attracting more exhibitors and visitors, the organizer published in many newspapers and magazines about the exhibition’s information, sending tens of thousands of invitation cards, information bags and small souvenirs through various channels. These effective ways played a very important role in the rise and development of the exhibition.

Since 1995, China Weighing Instrument Association has organized 12 International Weighing Exhibitions in Beijing, Chengdu, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Qingdao and Changsha. This strongly strengthens economic & technological exchanges and cooperation between China and international weighing industry. Made a tremendous contribution to introduce advanced technology and equipment for China weighing enterprises, to promote the production, process, technology advances, to speed up the adjustment of product structure and to promoting the trade development. In recent years, in addition to being in 2009 global financial crisis there is a little decline in exports, China's annual exports of weighing products increase at a double-digit growth rate. In 2010, according to China Customs statistics, the export of weighing products has reached USD850 millions, it increased 23.2% than 2009.

During the preparation stage, some foreign exhibitors reminded to the organizer that the date when this exhibition will be held is exactly in the same as the Easter holidays. Some European and American visitors are expected to attend with inconvenience. Although those foreign exhibitors are also appeared in the exhibition, the organizer not only would like to thank to the foreign exhibitors make such an important decision to support the fairs, but also reminded the organizers to consider as many factors as possible for an international exhibition.

The InterWeighing2011 was closed successfully. China Weighing Instrument Association will actively prepare for the Interweighing2012. We believe that in the strong support and active cooperation of the CWIA members and weighing enterprises, the InterWEIGHING will achieve great success and become better! The InterWeighing2012 has been scheduled at mid-May 2012 in Nanjing, Jiangsu province, China.
